The American Civil War centered around the issue of Slavery; yet Civil War memorials tell a very different story. The Memory-Go-Round travels around the U.S. picking up civil war memorials that have been taken down due to their racist past, and the racism they stand for in the present moment. As Civil War Memorials fill up the Memory-go-Round, the construct travels and is ultimately placed on the Washington Mall. Once the memorials are utilized by the public, they are moved to museums or decommissioned. Just as the merry-go-round began as a cavalry training construct and became a tool for recreation, the Memory-Go-Round recasts the merry-go-round, finishing the work that started with the removal of the first Confederate statue in the US in 2015, training war statutes for peace. The Memory-Go-Round was exhibited as part of the 'Platform' exhibition at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 2019.
